Dear Mayor Godenot,

We have carefully inspected the unusual samples of mushroom you sent us, and we can conclusively say that these mushrooms are definitely not space krakens. As if such a thing existed.

No, the samples you sent us are merely a previously unknown fungus that glows in the dark and has an unusual reaction to water.

It would be a good idea to search the bayou exhaustively, collect all of the samples of this fungus you can locate, and send them to us at the above address.

• Preserve the samples; protect them from air.
• Do not let these samples accumulate in large quantities. Do not put more than about twenty of them in any single container.
• Wash your hands after touching these samples.
• Under no circumstances should you cook these samples and feed them to people or animals; especially do not use them as an ingredient of shrimp-stuffed mushrooms in butter sauce.
